The purpose behind the graphics created for this course, and for my master’s degree as a whole is to become a better teacher. My intention through my course of study and my capstone is to create a website where I can post learning materials for students. By having a collection of tutorials, videos, powerpoints, and other instructional information that are accessible to students I can ensure that all students are able to learn course material, even if they are absent or need to miss classes for any other reasons.

The target audience for my graphics are high school art students. Throughout the creation of my images, I created images that can be used later as part of a tutorial in which students will learn how to photograph and edit their artwork for digital use. As AP Studio Art students, there is a requirement to submit a digital portfolio. To ensure the highest quality possible, students edit images so judges are able to view the images and nothing else, which prevents any possible outside bias in viewing the images.

The process to create each image is fairly straightforward. Outside of my education, I’m a part-time photographer who has become quite proficient with Photoshop. The graphic titled “scanned” is actually an instruction page detailing the steps to photograph and edit student artwork.

For these images, specifics are outlined below.

1. “original” was created by opening Photoshop > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

2. “Resized” was created by opening Photoshop > Image > Image Size > (adjust size to 640 pixels for height or width, whichever is greater) > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

3. “Cropped” was created by opening Photoshop > Crop (C) > (use guides to crop image to desired size) > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

4. “Adapted” was created by opening Photoshop > selecting Black and White from the adjustment menu > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

5. “Scanned” was created by scanning a file to the computer, locating the file in downloads, opening it in Photoshop > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

6. “Scanned_adapted” was created by opening Photoshop > Image > Image Size > (adjust size to 640 pixels for height or width, whichever is greater) > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

7. “Paint” was created by opening Photoshop > Text (T) > Enter Phrases > Use Rectangular Marquee (M) to create shapes to create camera, use Paint Bucket Tool (G) to fill in shapes, repeat with Eliptical Marquee Tool (M) to create ovals for camera graphic> Use Rectangular Marquee tool (M) > Copy Image> Paste Image > Move Tool (V) to move pasted image to correspond with the second phrase > Paint Bucket Tool (G), change color in color selector, add color to duplicate image > Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a rectangle shape > fill in with Paint Bucket Tool (G) > copy edited image with Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) > move shape with Move (V) tool> File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

8. “Paint_adapted” was created by opening Photoshop > Image > Image Size > (adjust size to 640 pixels for height or width, whichever is greater) > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

9. “Outside” was created by finding a relevant image on Pexels, a website dedicated to free stock images, picked an image > Save As > Saved to Desktop > opened in Photoshop > File > Save As > (name file) > Save.

Note: No sources were used in creating this document or any of the images. I’m proficient in photoshop, and as such, did not rely on any outside sources to complete this task.
